Putting on somebody else’s shoes

Empathy may have become an overused word in the world of those who make virtual reality come to life, but it’s what attracted me to the field. The idea that you could bring your audience even deeper into what you wanted them to feel is fascinating to me.

In late 2019, I jumped more actively into virtual reality and have since participated in three VR labs — one at the prestigious La Venezia di Biennale. I am the producer of three different virtual reality experiences in different stages of development. Two are animated stories for adults and one is a documentary prototype.

The Wolf and the Lamb

Selected for La Venezia di Biennale College Cinema VR. Animation in development.

An immersive adaptation of Aesop’s fable about the futility of debating someone who is looking for an excuse to hurt you, where the audience comes to realise that they’re not merely watching the story unfold, but are an active participant. How do you react to an injustice playing out in front of you?

No Matter Where

Created as part of Off-Piste Virtual Reality Storytelling Lab. Documentary prototype.

An existential experience where you question your own connection to place and memories. The theme is your sense of belonging as seen through the lens of place. You find yourself in modern day Norway as you meet individuals whose reflections as whole create a captivating emotional arc.

A World Under Water

Originated from OffPiste VR Storytelling Lab network. Animation in early development.
